My name is Kristin Yurukova, and I am a jurist, a poet, a novelist, a journalist and a painter. I was born in 1956 in Plovdiv. My writing journey goes through the labyrinth of the human soul. Each of my books is one part of the labyrinth. I have lyric books of the European Library series (some books are bilingual - Bulgarian/ German) about different cultures - Thracian, Etruscan, Italian, Bulgarian, German, Austrian. I am an author of the following novels: ”Sworn sign”, “The Layout of Paris”, “Born in The Rhodopes”, “The dream of Semela”, “Prince Battenberg /Count of Hartenau” and collections of short stories. My novels and short stories are about the history of Bulgaria and Europa, the revolutionaries who brought the freedom to Bulgaria in the year 1878, the political opponents of the communist regime held in prison camps, and the resistance against this regime in Bulgaria and Europa.
Another group of books of mine are books about the dawn of humanity - the first people of Bulgaria who were also the first farmers of Europa, the creators of mankind’s first script and the oldest processed gold in the world (humanity’s first gold). The mythology and art of these people are the sources of the European culture. My last novel ist “The dream of Semela”. It tells the story of the first script of mankind.
I have published 19 books - poetry, novels, short stories. I have been awarded by national awards for the novel “The Layout of Paris”, a short story dedicated to the April Uprising in 876, the poem “Saint John of Rila”, for an essay on the EU from Bulgarka foundation und Konrad Adenauer foundation, and for my journalistic work - from Bulgaria’s environmentalist community.
My joy: to catch the things that are invisible to the naked eye.
It ist my principle: Don't let the truth get drowned with many words.
I would recommend to a stranger my novel “Prince Battenberg/Count of Hartenau” . It is about the first Bulgarian prince after the liberation of Bulgaria. In this novel the Bulgarians are presented through the eyes of a stranger - the prince Alexander of Battenberg. I have had many art exhibitions in Bulgaria and in Germany. My books are illustrated by paintings or graphics of mine.
