Ivan Dimitrov Hristov was born on 31.03.1951 in the village of Dobralak, Plovdiv County. He graduated the Veliko Tarnovo University “St. St. Kiril and Metodii” in the major Bulgarian philology. He worked as a teacher and principal of the school in his native village up to 1987, and after that he was appointed a principal of the Primary School “St. St. Kiril and Metodii” in the village of Markovo, Plovdiv county, where he worked until he retired in 2014.
He published his literary works in many newspapers, magazines, and anthologies, issued by the Union of the Bulgarian Writers, the almanac “New Bulgarian Literature”, and collections of literary works of teachers – creators of the publishing house “Anubis – Bulvest” and others.
Coauthor of the books: “Know your family” (1983), publishing house “Narodna mladezh”, Sofia and “Teachers – associates Levski” (1989), publishing house “Hristo G. Danov”, Plovdiv. He is the author of the books: “The apostles of Rhodope mountains” - essays and stories (1993), publishing house of “Trakiya” magazine, Plovdiv, “Literary choices” - criticism (1999), publishing house “Svetulka – 44”, Sofia, “The Sign of the Cross” – Rhodope stories (2003), publishing house “Svetulka – 44”, Sofia, “Territories of Spirit” - criticism (2010), publishing house “Ecobelan”, Asenovgrad, “Ordeal” – stories (2012), publishing house “Ecobelan”, Asenovgrad, “Flashes” – criticism (2017), publishing house “Ecobelan”, Asenovgrad,.
He was awarded the National Prize for Literature “Grandfather Yotso is watching” for fiction story (2012). He is a member of the Union of the Bulgarian Writers and the Association of Writers - Plovdiv. In 2015 he was received the order “St. St. Kiril and Metodii” second degree for services in the sphere of education and culture, and in 2016 the badge of honor of the city of Plovdiv. He was awarded with the certificate of merit of the Union of the Bulgarian Writers for contribution to the modern Bulgarian literature – 2018. He resides in the city of Plovdiv.
